G&C Concrete Construction is seeking a qualified Project Superintendent/Field Engineer to oversee concrete construction activities at our project sites in the Boston metro area. The role includes supervising field operations, coordinating with trades and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and scheduling requirements.
Key Responsibilities Supervise and direct a union workforce (10–15 staff including carpenters, laborers, finishers, ironworkers, and operators). Oversee installation and layout of concrete structural elements using robotic total stations. Coordinate procurement and timely delivery of materials. Ensure project grading complies with elevation requirements and plans. Perform concrete takeoffs and manage batch plant communications (orders, mix designs). Review and interpret structural, architectural, and MEP drawings and shop drawings. Ensure compliance with ACI standards and concrete construction best practices. Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and project stakeholders. Track and follow up on extra work slips outside the scope of work. Maintain quality control and manage scheduling of materials and crews.
Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field Alternatively: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with reduced experience requirements (see below) Experience: With Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in concrete construction, including at least 1 year on projects involving cast-in-place concrete and formwork systems. With Master’s degree: Minimum 2 years of related experience, including 1 year of formwork and cast-in-place concrete project work. Technical Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with layout, grade, and control for concrete construction using benchmarks Working knowledge of ACI standards and cast-in-place construction methods Experience with robotic total station layout is highly desirable
